Expungements

An expungement is when a court removes the record of a conviction from a person's record, either at the discretion of the court or because a statute requires it. If you have a prior conviction and it gets expunged, you can honestly say you've never been convicted, which is massively helpful in finding jobs and housing. You can also get certain crimes reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor, and sometimes you can get a previous conviction reduces and expunged! This does not restore quite all of your rights under the law, but it helps a lot, and is a huge step in getting your life back on track after a conviction. To see if you're eligible, please click the state in which you were convicted.
